Natural Oils for the baby

Why is it so important to choose Scullys’ natural baby skincare products?

Your baby’s skin is so delicate, and as their sensitive immune system is developing, it’s important not to overwhelm them with heavy creams, fragrances or synthetic ingredients.

That’s why the Scullys’ Baby line has been specially formulated for use on your baby’s delicate skin.

Natural Oils for the baby

As well as being beautifully soft and smooth, infant skin is much thinner than adult skin, and can take up to 12 months to develop its protective barrier. This means that your baby’s skin absorbs what you put on it more easily than your own skin! And their immature immune systems can’t process and remove harmful chemicals as easily as an adult’s can.

So to safeguard your child’s tender skin, we at Scullys have developed our line of Baby’s body&hair care products which contains blends of natural oils, shea butter, goat milk and plants extracts.

The Natural Oils contained in the Scullys’ Baby Products are especially nurturing and healthy for your child’s delicate skin.

Here is why:

Avocado and Coconut Oils

Avocado and Coconut natural oils have been used in the development of the Scullys Baby 2-in-1 Shampoo and Bath Wash, as well as in the Scullys Baby Body Lotion.

These two oils are full of vitamins and nutrients:

Avocado oil contains antioxidant vitamins A, C and E to nourish, protect and soothe skin against itching and dryness. Coconut oil also contains vitamin E. Both are rich in healthy unsaturated fats, which help retain skin moisture.

They both have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties:

The oleic acid in avocado oil can help soothe irritated skin and protect against skin dryness and cracking, as can the vitamin E in both oils. The lauric acid in coconut oil has been shown to protect skin from certain microbial infections, which may help provide relief from some skin irritations, like eczema.

Both oils provide a protective moisture barrier:

Avocado oil penetrates into skin deeper than other oils, helping retain moisture in skin for longer.

Coconut oil contains healthy fatty acids that also provide a protective barrier on your baby’s skin, making it ideal to soothe the irritated skin of diaper rash. Coconut oil’s helps retain skin’s moisture, and massaging new-born babies with coconut oil safely and naturally reduces their skin’s trans-epidermal water loss.

Keep your baby’s hair healthy:

The vitamins, proteins and fatty acids in both avocado and coconut oils also help keep your baby’s hair smooth and soft, as well as soothing any scalp irritation, including cradle cap. Coconut oil is also beneficial to moisturise your baby’s hair if it becomes dry.

Almond oil

Babies love to be cuddled, held and massaged – and the sense of touch is so powerful.

Using the Scullys Baby Massage oil on a base of Almond and Apricot Kernel Oils and with Chamomile essential oil to massage your baby helps nourish their skin while strengthening the bond between you.

Physical touch brings more closeness between the baby and the parent.

For its many healing and protecting properties, natural Almond Oil has also been used in the formula of Scullys Baby Botty Balm

Apricot Kernel Oil

Another great, natural, delicate and safe oil that we have used in the formulas of our Scullys Baby Massage Oil and Scullys Botty Balm.

Apricot oil extracted from the apricot’s kernel, and it is very appreciated in baby’s body care products for its delicate nature, and because it contains a great deal of vitamin E and A, and it softens the skin.

You can put the Scullys Baby Massage Oil on your baby and rejuvenate your hands skin, too!

This natural oil is very appreciated in massage products because when you use it on your baby it doesn’t leave a film after you put it on like some other oils. You’ll notice that both you and your baby both feel softer, but do not have that greasy feeling after application.

Oleic and linoleic acid are found in high amounts in apricot oil. When the vitamin A penetrates the skin, it helps it look more youthful, fighting against dryness and even lessens some forms of irritation.
